Tonto’s going to need another partner: A rep for Ryan Gosling has confirmed to EW that the Blue Valentine actor will not be playing the title character in Disney’s big-screen version of The Lone Ranger, which is scheduled to head to theaters in 2014. Over the weekend, various outlets reported that the actor was in talks to star alongside Johnny Depp (as Tonto) in the movie. Reports of the talks, however, were premature, as Gosling’s schedule was not yet firmed up. The actor will next appear in July 29′s Crazy, Stupid, Love.

I love Ryan Gosling but that would have been RANDOM casting. Not a good fit. The perfect choice would be Jon Hamm…He’s handsome, dark haired and is capable of being funny AND dashing…c’mon! Cast him!!!!
He is really not right actor to play the Lone Ranger. The studio needs to pick an actor that is older and sophisticated enough to play the role.
jon hamm is not famous enough for the studio to overlook his older age. but he is perfect for the role…
I think he’s famous enough with the Town and Mad Men not to mention the 30 Rock guest spots.
Yay!!!
Yay! That would have been bad casting. Hopefully, Jon Hamm or Timothy Olyphant will be considered.
Oooh! Either of them would be great!
Jon Hamm maybe but I’m hoping Depp will lead as Tonto should have. ;o)
May I humbly suggest Jensen Ackles for the role. That guy was born to play a cowboy on the big screen.
They really need to get Jensen Ackles for this role, pronto! Buy out his Supernatural contract, whatever. He could be great. He looks great in a cowboy hat and he’s got the jawline to carry off the mask(the mask over the eyes needs a good jawline to balance it out:).
More importantly, he’s a great actor who, while young, is capable of giving off a a certain amount of gravitas. This is how Dean Winchester has managed to be so convincing from day one as a man who had almost no childhood and has the weight of the world on his shoulders.
This is an outstanding share. Thanks a lot for this article.
Jenn: So sorry to be the bad influence in celwryorbd…But look at it this way, you’re technically becoming smarter!Darling: I don’t want to say anything that will make you pout more than you already are. I know you have that shirt but…Mrs. G: Don’t encourage his pitiful behavior, please. If we could swing this flick (and I could star, of course), you’ve got front row seats. Oscar poll coming up…
