Cars never reached the genius levels of a few other Pixar flicks (like Toy Story, or Toy Story 2… or Toy Story 3), but it was a pretty fun ride all the same. And its sequel, which will hit theaters June 24, looks like it should also be an amusing way to spend two hours. The newest trailer for Cars 2 introduces heroic racecar Lightning McQueen’s new rival, an Italian hot-rod named Francesco, and reveals that Larry the Cable Guy’s Mater has apparently been upgraded from sidekick to lead. It also includes one awesome joke, which goes a little something like this:
Lightning: “You ready?”
Mater: “Is the Popemobile Catholic?”

All Pixar movies are genius. Can’t wait!
Even though Cars may be considered one of the weaker Pixar movies, it was still a whole lot better than the majority of major film studio’s animated offerings over the last few years. I have, to date, seen every single one of the Pixar films in the theater, and guarantee I’ll be leaving after this one with a big smile plastered on my face.
Saw this preview before Fast Five, it got more reaction than most of the other previews, except Hangover II.
Much better than the other trailers. Definitely gives me more hope in this project. Love the end with the computer misunderstanding Mater’s directions!
