It seems that zombie-costume drama movie mash-ups are much like buses: You wait ages for one to come along and then two arrive at once. That’s right, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is not the only flesh-and-bodice-ripper shambling its way towards our multiplex emporia. British actor-director Matthew Butler has confirmed to EW that Gillian Anderson, and comic actor Mark Williams are attached to star in the 18th century-set zombie movie The Curse of the Buxom Strumpet, a feature length version of Butler’s short film, E’gad Zombies. Sir Ian McKellen will also appear in the film — in fact Butler explained via email that his “scenes and narration have been filmed (due to commitments on The Hobbit).” Butler also said that he was hoping to cast Dame Judi Dench in the project but that, contrary to widespread media reports, her involvement was not “set in stone.”
You can check out the trailer for E’gad Zombies below. Do you think two zombie-costume dramas are one (or two) too many? Or nowhere near enough?

I’m intrigued
I wanna see Anderson again even though she has an English accent 24-7 now.
She lived in England more than half of her childhood, so she comes by it naturally.
That is a brilliant title! Most American will have no idea.
I comprehended the brilliance of all the titles stated in this article. What, exactly, as an American, am I to have no idea about?
Philosopher’s Stone / Sorcerer’s Stone.
I’m in.
i have to see that!
I’ll bite. Am usually a sucker for costume dramas and bodice-rippers anyhoo… Sure, why not?
Anything that brings Gillian Anderson back into the limelight is fine by me. Don’t get me wrong, I love me some Ian McKellan, but the nerd in me did a mini-cartwheel upon reading Anderson’s name.
Ian and Gillian in the same movie? I am there!
Isn’t Gillian Anderson english anyway ? Saw her in 2 bodice rippers already being ‘The House of Mirth’ and ‘Bleak House’ on TV and she was superb in both. Her and Sir IMK together……running.
You had me at ‘zombie costume drama’.
gayfest fail.
Great article. I can¡¯t wait to hear more about your research tool. If it is as good as your other products, then you will have another winner. Your article pretty much summed up what I have been seeing too. Great to see some hard data.
