Naomie Harris in talks to be a Bond girl in 'Bond 23'

Nick Harvey/

Turns out the British tabloids aren’t always wrong. EW has confirmed reports in Rupert Murdoch’s News of the World earlier today that actress Naomie Harris (Pirates of the Caribbean, 28 Days Later) is being considered to star as a Bond girl in Bond 23, the stand-in title for the long-delayed, soon-to-shoot 007 movie. A spokesperson for Eon Productions, Bond’s home, tells EW that Harris has indeed met with the filmmakers, although no deals have yet been struck. Beyond that, all we know about the film is that Sam Mendes will direct, Daniel Craig will return as Bond for the third time, and Judi Dench will be back as M. Although EW has not confirmed it, the British tabs have also reported that offers to play the villain have gone out to Javier Bardem and Ralph Fiennes. Who knows? Maybe they’re right about that too.

Naomie is beautiful and a great actress. I hope this is true.

    • Melania

Hopefully they find a MUCH hotter actress. Good Lord.

      • Adwina Lambert

        true!! pick me!! tee-hee!
IF ever she’ll be a bond girl/villain hope she dies quickly in the first few scenes like the one who got twisted around the hammock! TEE-HEE!

      • steven johnson

a very good choice if chosen.
        good on her!
she’s done so well since she appeared in 28 days later.

      • Michael

this is a great choice…it’s always nice to have a bond girl/villain who isn’t the stereotypical pretty white face

      • Sean

Aw come on, we all know Denise Richards was the best bond girl ever, right? … right? *gag*

  • wierdalexj

Great choice Bond producers! Naomie Harris is a fine actress and I hope she gets more exposure in the U.S. from this film (not just the 2nd & 3rd Pirates of the Caribbean movies)!

    • kremzeek!

she was also in Street Kings.a good role, plus you got to see how beautiful she is without nudity.

  • rebecca

She is beautiful but just don’t let her be a crazy one. All the previous black females that have been Bond girls have all been on the bad side and have all been a little crazy(May Day). Just let her be normal and strong. Not a crazy damsel in distress that the audience hates!!!

    • Chele Belle

Halle Berry as Jinx from DIE ANOTHER DAY….I don’t remember her being crazy…just sexy and beautiful. But I do hope they don’t create a asexual but sassy sidekick type.

      • Ruby

Yeah but Berry was annoying as hell. She helped make the movie awful.

      • Ann

I’m not paying to see that crap.

    • Peter

Why is Hugo Weaving never in the running for a Bond villain? He was born for it!

      • Ruby

Agreed! Love that man. He might be trying to avoid being typecast though (The Matrix, Captain America etc).

      • dmac2498

Because any Bond villain he would play would always be compared to Agent Smith.

      • chase

@ Ruby… Boo, he was Lord Elrond. He could never be type cast as villain after playing Elf-kind…

      • EV

Because the various vagrants that are the vain critics would viciously and vapidly and victoriously vex him.

  • bamalam

What about the girl from Quantum of Solace? Is her story finished? I’ve always thought that Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, and the next one were meant as a trilogy of sorts.

    • DJ Wood

Is it supposed to be a trilogy? If so, and as much as I love love love Daniel Craig as Bond, Michael Fassbender should take over the role.

      • Ruby

Fassbender is my favorite actor, no joke. He would truly be great as Bond. Good suggestion!

      • Big Walt

Why should he take over now if it is supposed to be a trilogy? That doesn’t make any sense.

    • RecceR

That story is over, no trilogy arc intended for these. Though there are rumors this could be the last time Craig plays Bond. Craig and one of the producers have stated before that the next one will be a new story and have nothing to do with the previous two movies.

Really impressed with Naomie in “The First Grader,” now in select theaters. Check it out if it’s in your town.

  • jason

    ………a lil strange

  • Ian

Oh my gosh please please please let this be true and go through! Naomi would be magnificent. I’ve loved all her roles so far, especially loving the lesser-known films, and she’s terrific. And stunningly beautiful. She should be getting more A-list parts. For example, they chose Amy Adams to be Lois Lane in the new Superman movies. WTF? Why not Naomi? Terrible.

    • Melania

Don’t try and advocate for people that you can’t even spell their names. It’s insipid. Spare us your obnoxious insecure ill-informed opinions, bozo.

      • Laila

We got another troll ladies and gentlemen: introducing Melania.
Because it was truly obnoxious and ridiculous to post such a belligerent, disproportionately reactionary reply.

      • jimbojones

“Don’t try and advocate for people that you can’t even spell their names.”

What is truly insipid is your complete lack of understanding of how to form a coherent sentence. Think hard before you hit “post comment,” moron.

  • Terry

please not a black girl again.

    • Summer Bay

Why not Terry? Go to England (this might scare you) but there are black people there & guess what? They sound just like the white people.

      • Laila

Dammit Summer Bay! Why did u reply to Terry? Commenters like that are only trolls, purposely trying to stir the pot for some petty little satisfaction.

      • Ann

        Ribbit ribbit.

    • Ann

As long as she is the scary bad evil spector inc. lady, then ok.

    • sunsetsnow81

    • angela

Yeah its not its a white girl every film though.

      • Ann

No it isn’t. You are delusional.

    • Julie

Isn’t divesity a travesty? How dare they cast her. Maybe you can sit this one out and wait for the next one with white girl. May take a few years though.

  • JPX

She’s kind of a homely thing. She does nothing for me.

    • Ann

Even you could hit that. Amazing.

    • angela

The picture used in this article doesn’t do her justice.

  • Kerry Frey

Reading above, it says she is being considered for A Bond girl, not THE Bond girl. There have been multiple female interests in each of Daniel Craig’s films.

  • Jon

    Two words: Miss Moneypenny.

  • Emma

Too bad Eva Green can’t come back.

    • Laura

Seriously. Love her. I was so mad when Vesper (SPOILER, I guess?) died. She and Daniel were great together.

  • Vince

As long as Danny is playing Bond the series is on my banned list.

  • Captain

So no Olivia Wilde/Freida Pinto? I was really excited about them.

    • Elle

I was excited about Frieda Pinto too. She would have been great. I would love Rose Byrne too. Just because I love her and her work. Not sure if she could pull it off though.

  • monday

It’s about time they used a nice looking woman for a change, so tired of all those pasty goons.
