I tawt I taw a puddy tat! And a tweety bird! And a daffy duck! Warner Bros. announced this week that the studio is resurrecting many of its beloved Looney Tunes characters for three 3-D animated shorts playing in front of its upcoming feature films, two of which will use archived recordings of original Looney Tunes voice artist Mel Blanc. Here are the studio’s descriptions of each of the shorts, which are all helmed by Matthew O’Callaghan, and produced by the team behind Cartoon Network’s The Looney Tunes Show

Daffy’s Rhapsody: In the first of the new shorts, a persistent Elmer Fudd chases Daffy Duck (Blanc) on stage during a musical performance. The short features Blanc performing the song “Daffy Duck’s Rhapsody.”

I Tawt I Taw a Puddy Tat: A classic game of cat and bird transpires in Granny’s apartment as Tweety Bird goes to great lengths to avoid the clutches of his arch-nemesis Sylvester the Cat. The short also features the hit song of the same name, which was performed by Blanc, and sold over three million copies worldwide.

Untitled Coyote & Road Runner: Wile E. Coyote’s epic quest to capture the Road Runner continues in this all-new short. Will the Coyote finally get his paws on his elusive prize?

The first short, Daffy’s Rhapsody, will play in front of Happy Feet 2, which hits theaters Nov. 18.

Whoops, I guess the comments don’t allow all the same words used in the article….let me again LOL at your use of “tw*t” instead of “tawt”.

    • Karen

That made no sense. To clarify: I tried to comment before on your little typo there, and apparently the comment gods don’t approve of using “tw*t” in a comment because it didn’t post. But haaaaaa you said the t-word accidentally. And apparently I have the sense of humor of a middle school boy.

      • ikagirl

You beat me to it! Guess I have the same sense of humor as a 12 yr old, but this week, I think we all do!

  • Laundry

I wish they’d make a full-length movie, 100% animated (unlike Space Jam) featuring the beloved Warner crew!

Maybe they’re testing the waters with these shorts?

    Th-th-th-that’s all, folks!

    • Jose

I too hope for an animated film.

  • KSG

    Where’s Bugs?

    • Chris

Catching some rays on Fire Island.

  • Jeff from Jersey; yes New Jersey

Not a fan of the new Looney Tunes show but these shorts sound like the real deal; with two of them honoring the original man of a thousand voices.

  • BrandonK

I will look forward to seeing the Daffy one at some point, but there is no way I’m going to see Happy Feet 2.

    • Laundry

Buy your ticket, watch the short and then leave. Request a refund at the door.

      • Jose

I would do that, but there’s absolutely no refunds allowed.
I’ll just wait till it hits the internet.

  • Androidsdungeon

    This is such great news!

  • You know it’s true

Pixar was the first to bring back animated shorts, and they will continue to do it better, no doubt.

    • Jose

But WB was the first to do it so…

  • Marianna

Am I the only person who looks forward to the animated short where that obnoxious little feather duster Tweety finally gets what’s coming to him?

    • Teresa

      Yes – I love Tweety!

  • UGH

I hope they’ll be better than those horrible new Looney Tunes the Cartoon Network is currently airing. It’s kind of ridiculous that they felt the need to “urbanize” some of the voiceovers.

    • lettergirl

agreed. i tuned in just long enough to see the CHICKEN HAWK rap. then, i wanted to kill myself. why does EVERY cartoon character have to rap?!?!?!?!?!?!!?

  • Michael

UGH a lot of people who use to do the voices die

    • UGH

Usually they will at least get a sound-alike. The Witch no longer has that witch-voice and cackle. She sounds like Shirley Hemphill instead.

      • KC

That’s almost like getting Seth Rogen to voice Fat Albert.

      • UGH

Haha. We’re just talking “the witch” here, no major player like Fat Albert. It just seems so forced.

      • KC

Do I detect some racism there, UGH?What makes you think that Ronald McDonald was really white underneath that makeup all of these years?

      • UGH

I know for a fact that Mayor McCheese held secret Klan rallies with The Hamburgler.

      • KC

I must watch this new Looney Tunes. I do hope they didn’t change Bug’s carrot to something that’s stereotypical.

      • UGH

I’m just glad they kept Daffy’s lisp and Porky’s stutter. They didn’t keep that PC at least.

  • Jose

I wish that they play these shorts ahead of Deathly Hallows 2 that way I don’t have to wait till Happy Feet 2

  • LostBoy68

Didn’t they already start this last year with a Road Runner short?

    • Aidan

Yah they did! On a side note, I may end up forcing myself to see Happy Feet 2 just so I can see the Daffy Duck short!

      • Jez

If it’s any consolation Happy Feet 2 will at least be more enjoyable than Breaking Dawn.
