It all ends, indeed. Exactly one month from today, on July 15, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — Part 2, the final film in the wildly successful and beloved franchise, hits theaters. And while most Potter fans are dreading that the end is nigh, they also can’t seem to get the tickets to the saga’s conclusion — which went on sale this week in select markets — fast enough. (Potter-fanatics who do not yet have tickets on sale in their area can visit the Harry Potter fan page on Fandango, which began selling tickets over the weekend, to sign up to receive an e-mail for when they become available.)
That’s right: Though the release of the film is still a month away, Harry Potter mania is already in full effect, with many midnights screenings already sold-out. In fact, as of Tuesday, June 15, roughly 52 percent of Fandango’s ticket sales were advance purchases for the film, while just 7 percent of the days’ sales, as of 3 p.m. EST, were for Green Lantern, which opens this weekend.
Fandango’s Harry Medved tells EW that the final HP is already seeing “brisk ticket sales,” and while it’s still “too early to tell” if it will surpass the advance sales of Deathly Hallows– Part 1 (which had more than 2,000 sold-out shows before it had even opened and became one of Fandango’s Top 10 Advance Ticket-Sellers list), fans are thirsty enough for the final film to give it an edge. “It’s like a party everyone wants to attend,” Medved says. “It’s more than a movie for the people that grew up with Harry Potter, it’s an event … An experience.”

I wouldn’t be surprised especially since I’m part of this “Harry Potter Mania”
me too, can’t wait. Forgot to check a few days ago and the IMAX midnight viewing is sold out, so we’re going to the midnight digital 3D viewing
I got my tickets at harrypottertickets.org so you can get them in 3D still.
Not all the midnight viewings are gone. It depends on the state and city
Can’t wait.
I got my lotion ready and I shaved my rug. Emma Watson, I will see you on the big screen.
Same I’m SO pumped!! The last midnight show at my local theater was completely sold out. The line was wrapped all the way around the theater. It was insane, but so much fun!!
It should advertised with the slogan, at last its over.
WB should just make more sequels of HP. Like, create a new nemesis like voldemor and then bring on the twenty something Harry to kill the evil menace. More money in the WB coffers.
Mr. and Mrs. Dursley,of number four, Privet Drive, were proud to say they were perfectly normal, thank you very much.
Indeed, “the end is neigh,” and apparently it comes with a horse.
I doubt it. WB’s promotion for the finale of their biggest meal ticket has SUCKED.
You’re kidding, right? WB doesn’t HAVE to do promotion for it. It’s like “The Dark Knight Rises”…the anticipation is so high, the media is doing all the promotion FOR them. Why spend money on something that’s being done for free?
Agree with Alex. I don’t know a single person who is not aware of this movie.
stupid troll is stupid
Haha, EW.com itself has had some sort of Harry Potter news almost every month since Part 1. The poster was just on the other day. People know this movie is coming.
Well considering how successful all the past films have been with limited promotion, no one blames them. But I think WB will definitely pull out the big guns for the last movie. The UK premiere is going to be MASSIVE!
Limited promo?! You must be kidding. More like a deluge of ads and souvenirs.
SHUT YOUR FACE UGLY
Anybody who loves Harry Potter wants to see this heroic finale. Harry at his bravest; Ron and Hermione; Neville taking on Negini; Molly Weasley dueling Bellatrix. Who wants to miss that on the big screen sharing with hundreds of others?
its Nagini, but still cant wait, sorry i am a harry potter nut
I wish I could go to the Midnight shows, but work is too early the next day. I’ll go after work that day, then again sometime over the weekend. No advance sales needed around these parts though.
I’ve seen every installment with the same group of friends since CoS. We don’t have advanced sales yet in my area, but we’ve just gotten super coordinated via text. This is the Super Bowl of Midnight shows. This is what you train for.
Darn, The digital theater near my house is already sold out.
I honestly can’t wait for the finale come July 15. The promotion and the film itself just look incredible. Though in looking at past numbers the last two Twilight movies have out done the last two Harry Potter films in terms of midnight and advanced sale tickets. I expect HP7 to be a strong contender for first but come November I have a feeling all the little Twi-hards will come out in full force and make Breaking Dawn come out on top. But who knows!
HP 7.2 is going to be the biggest boxoffice of 2011 by a wide margin. It will probably end up top 5 all time. This doesn’t surprise me at all.
I haven’t loved any of the movies (I am ALL about the books), but I totally want to see this in its opening week for the experience of enjoying one last HP hurrah with other superfans. It really is about the experience.
Well, they’ve already got my money…can’t wait for July 15 (or technically July 14, I suppose).
It’s not even rated yet lol, I just got my tickets I’m so excited!
WHAT DOES POTTERMORE MEAN?!!? JK Rowling just announced that she’s making an announcement about this tomorrow!! She said it’s not a new book, but WHAT is it?! Driving me crazy!!!
Calm down, I think you mean more Potter…… if that’s what the message is.
No, it’s Pottermore.
Check out Pottermore.com It’s JKR’s new project.
OMG, I just found out that the midnight screening of the film at my theater is SOLD OUT. Yikes! Rabid fans!
