Saying goodbye to Harry Potter in The Deathly Hallows — Part 2 will be bittersweet for millions of fans who grew up reading the books and watching the films, but perhaps no one appreciates the finality of the last film more than its stars, who’ve grown up before our very eyes. Daniel Radcliffe told Nicolas Flamel, I mean, Larry King, in a CNN special scheduled to air this Sunday night, that he “wept like a child on the last day” of filming. “It’s been such an extraordinary experience to work with, essentially, the same group of people for 10 years,” Radcliffe said. “You develop such close bonds with so many people that it — it feels odd that — though those bonds will still exist into the future, it feels very, very strange to not be going back to work with them next year.”
Rupert Grint felt much the same way, telling King, “It was kind of like the last day of school, and I remember packing up my dressing room and putting all these kind of odd birthday cards and toys that I’d kind of collected over the years … It was quite a big kind of shock, really, kind of, leaving it behind.”
Watch a clip of the interview after the jump.
The one-hour special, airing July 10 at 8 and 11 p.m. ET will feature interviews with Radcliffe, Grint, Emma Watson, Tom Felton, Helena Bonham Carter, and Robbie Coltrane, as well as never before seen footage from the film.

He was probably drunk.
Grow up. Anyone who’s been on a sitcom for any length of time has said the same thing.
His eyebrows are too bushy. It’s distracting.
Yeah, but it’s not like Larry King’s going to change any time soon.
Hah!! Nicolas Flemel!
King = Flamel – AWESOME!
I’m going to need tissues to watch this special, I can already tell. *sniff*
Oh my god, I’m going to be such a hysterical mess at the end.
“Wept like a child”, While filming the last movie he WAS a child..
Legally or mentally a child? Legally, I’m probably going to have to say he was an adult, but point taken.
He was Drinking, so he must have been an adult.
18 is the legal drinking age in England and since he is 21 now, he was an adult when the filming ended last year.
He’s 21, so I can say this: Meee-OW! He is aging very nicely, indeed!
I’m over thosem ovies now. Can’t wait for them to end. They don’t do the books any justice at all.
you gotta remember… whoever makes the movies from the books try their best… if the movies copied every single thing out of the book, movies would be way too expensive to make.. and we would be sitting in a theater for more than the normal 2 hours… i swear, everytime someone complains about a movie not being like the book.. well duhh… why don’t you see if you can do better?… the directors/producers just use the book as a reference guide.. everyone has their own creative minds to do what they want to do.. if you dont want to watch the movie because it doesnt do the book justice.. well its as easy as not watching the movie.. there are millions if not billions of others that want to watch the movie anyway.. and they will storm the theaters… so you dont have to like it… there are many others that do…
Oh boohoo. Poor baby. I’m so sorry.
Excellent interview! I love these two!
