Steven Soderbergh’s movie about male strippers is just sick with hotties now. EW has learned exclusively that True Blood’s Joe Manganiello is in final talks to join the flick that already stars Channing Tatum, Alex Pettyfer, Matthew McConaughey and Matt Bomer.
Manganiello will play Big Dick Richie (no, we didn’t make that up), a role that is sure to require the ripped actor to drop trou at one point or another.
The flick will feature Tatum as the title character, a veteran stripper who mentors a younger dancer (I Am Number Four‘s Pettyfer) in the art of hustling. McConaughey will portray a former stripper who now owns the club, called Xquisite, where Tatum’s character works.
The movie will mark a reunion, of sorts, for Manganiello and Bomer – two former school chums who just worked together on an episode of White Collar. The True Blood werewolf shed the extra hair to play a villain on the USA drama. His episode will air when the series returns in January.
Meanwhile, Manganiello is expected to remain gainfully employed over at HBO, which just ordered a fifth season of True Blood. The current season ends on Sept. 11.
Magic Mike will start shooting on Sept. 14 for a 2012 release.

I guarantee you that in spite of being set in the world of male strippers will not feature any kind of gay/bisexual/pansexual character, much less actual boy-on-boy scenes. Hollywood simply won’t go there. Which is sad, because you would think that Soderberg, who has been known to take some risks in the past, would try to stretch a little, after the big budget run he had with the Oceans films. This will be faux-edgy, a supposedly risque film tempered and sugarcoated by big-budget Hollywood pablum. I bet all the guys will be sexuallu voracious womanizers and one of them will probably get a girlfriend who wants him to leave that world.
Well that’s because there ARE no gay male strippers. Didn’t you know? They’re all completely, totally, 100%, Marcus Bachmann straight.
