Fresh from its success at the Toronto International Film Festival, Jennifer Westfeldt’s directorial debut Friends with Kids has landed a distribution deal with Lionsgate and its partner Roadside Attractions.
Westfeldt co-stars in the film with long-time boyfriend Jon Hamm, as well as Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Adam Scott, Chris O’Dowd, Megan Fox, and Edward Burns. Among other plotlines, the ensemble comedy follows Hamm and Wiig’s crumbling marriage and Westfeldt’s character’s decision to have a child with platonic pal Scott. Lionsgate’s President of Acquisitions and Co-Productions Jason Constantine said, “We are long time admirers of Jennifer, and this is an excellent directorial debut. She’s made a high concept comedy that thoroughly entertains as it explores one of this generation’s central quandaries.” He added, “This movie has comedy, heart and truth in equal measures, and it will be a delight to bring to audiences.”

That’s a pretty great cast. About half the cast of Bridesmaids plus Adam Scott? Count me in.
