A stuntman was killed and another was seriously injured in an explosion on the Bulgarian set of The Expendables 2 yesterday afternoon. The movie’s second unit stunt team was filming on a reservoir called Lake Ognyanovo in the southwestern part of the country when the accident occurred, while the movie’s main unit was shooting about 2.5 hours away, according to the film’s unit publicist. The names of the stuntmen are not yet being released, but Nu Image/Millennium Films issued a statement: “It is with great regret that we confirm this unfortunate accident. Our hearts go out to the families and those on the production affected by this tragedy. The filmmakers are working closely with the authorities in responding to and investigating this accident.”

“a damned reservoir” ? an especially unfortunate typo in this case.

If you shut it down than those stuntmen died for nothing. Just because you hated the movie doesn’t mean it was crappy. To each his own. Your opinion is no more important than any one else.
jdog, this is spam. It was nothing more than an excuse to get an advertisement here.
Alert: He did die for nothing. It was just a movie, dude. Not a movement.
Violence begets violence.
Evil begets evil.
I wouldn’t say their evil, just misguided.
Really, someone has lost their life and that is all you have to say?
Exactly, that stuntman wasn’t expendable.
They were stuntmen! While sad it may be, they knew the risks.
People die every day. These men died doing what they loved. Stop being so rash.
Its just like you read my mind! You apparently know a lot reetlad to this, like you wrote the book in it or some thing. It is my opinion that you could do with some pics to drive what it’s all about home a little, but in addition to that, it’s really terrific blog..

DIdn’t a similar tragedy like this also happen on Rambo III?
Richard Crenna’s career?
I extend my deepest condolences to his family!
I want to thank you for the time you have put in writing this blog post. I am hinpog the same best post from you in the future as well. In fact your creative writing skill has inspired me to begin my own blog now. Really the blogging is spreading its wings rapidly. Your write up is a good example of it.
What a tragedy! The fact that they’re making a sequel to that movie, that is.
The first movie was beyond awful, and no, not in some sort of 80s retro way. It was simply awful.
Stupid acting, stupid dialogue, stupid story, bad choreography, bad filming, bad cinematography.
It was just low quality trash.
Obviously you didn’t watch the movie. You just assume that all these things are truw. Yes, the actng is bad but no one saw the movie expecting some shakespearian masterpiece. The dialogue is the samething. It is what it is. It doesn’t pretend to care about acting, dialogue, or story. Now moving on the choreography was exceptional. Very well done, Extremely brutal and well done. The filming was also top notch for this type of movie. If you want all of the other things you listed there then go see the Notebook and stop commenting on movies youre obviously clueless about. Thank You and a lovely day.
Everybody gets blowed up! Keep the scene in the movie!!
So sad
Its always a sad time to hear a fellow stuntman has fallen, through we do know the risks that we are taking, we also take every precaution to avoid the slightest injuries to one another. It is a great honor being a stuntman, and we are doing what we love. It deeply saddens me to read the calice remarks many have left in the wake of one man fallen, and another fighting to survive. Countless lives have been affected by this trajedy. My heart goes out to the families going through this rough time, and my prayers will continually said.
@StuntmanPrecious -
I agree with you, soldiers also know the risk, so do pilots, and everyone who gets in a car everyday. That doesn’t make the death of a person less important or less sad.
My heart goes out to all who are affected by his death.
Lol! Who cares about stuntmen? NOBODY! They are expendable. If they die for our entertainment, then….oh well. Sorry or whatever.
another keyboard warrior who’s so brave he chooses to remain anonymous. so dying is entertainment to you? you’ve got seriously bad karma coming your way…a**hole!
I agree with you stuntman, people can be so very mean. Personally I think the stuntmen/women are the true stars. I know many and feel for their families. Such a close community.
Every life is precious, and my empathy is with the families who have lost love ones by any means. Nobody expects to go to work and die, even those of us who have risks entailed in our jobs. As far as idiotic comments you must remember this is the general public you are dealing with here. Many of them do not grow up in a good place, and others come from abuse and still others have low intelect. Although some have no excuse.
Straight up Presh. We’re regular people who take on extraordinary tasks because we love to do our work. We also have families and friends to take care just as our fallen brethren do. To read the negative comments put up by those who don’t give a crap already shows their own bitterness at their own life. Don’t feed into them. Do your thing!
Thanks sonny!
Well it could have been worse right. Could have been my life. HA HA HA
Almost as funny as Auschwitz!
I got a cool ashtray at their gift shop. It came pre-filled.
That’s just wrong on so many levels…
How sad..some people just got no sanity left in them..how can one just make fun about another’s demise?so saddening.
i read all these comments, and as an actor myself i know the level of stunts stuntmen sumtimes do that can be life threatning, all i can say is…they are brave..beyond believe..respect..
