The next installment in the Iron Man superhero film franchise will shoot in North Carolina. Marvel Studios will film Iron Man 3 starring Robert Downey Jr. in Wilmington, with pre-production starting soon and work in the state lasting about 10 months. State film office head Aaron Syrett said Thursday it will be the largest production to shoot in North Carolina. The production is expected to create 550 jobs for tradesmen, technicians and other crew members and more than 1,000 spots for actors and other talent.

SWEET!! Wonder how long it would take me to get to Wilmington from the mountains …

    • Sadie

Already planning my summer stalk-cation. Hoping some other Avengers make cameos. I mean, it only makes sense that Capt. America would want to visit the WWII battleships in the area, right?

actually sadie, that is not going to happen. For example, Chris Evans (Captain America) is contracted for 6 marvel movies including Avengers, so even if he appears for like a minute in Iron Man 3, that is considered one of the marvel movies under his contract. So no way they will let them appear, even as cameos.

Never say never, just because he is contracted for 6 movies doesn’t mean they can’t amend a contract to include a cameo. And how do you know part of the contract doesn’t cover cameos?

If ANYONE should be in this third installment,it should be Mandarin, with AIM lurking in the background.

    • T

What, no Howard T. Duck ?

  • EL FRANCO

    Easy there Angela!!
Robert Downey Jr. is taking each sequel one at a time.
And he is certainly not getting any younger!
Too many characters at once can sometimes ruin a movie, if you didn’t know.
