Director Brad Bird looks pretty cheerful in this featurette, considering he’s in charge of keeping one of the world’s biggest stars alive while he leaps, climbs, and dangles off the tallest building in the world. For the fourth installment of Mission: Impossible (no one has yet properly explained to me just what a “ghost protocol” is but I don’t care, I’m in), Tom Cruise apparently must find his inner Spidey and scale the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, which stands at 2723 feet (gulp). This stunt really does look death-defyingly cool — lots of tourists caught the action themselves and it even made the local news.
As for Cruise, he looks pretty relaxed in those wires. The film (you can check out the trailer here) also stars Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg, and Paula Patton, and will be in IMAX theaters Dec. 16 and everywhere on Dec. 21.

America loves crap.
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
name says it all

Every Mission: Impossible movie is set in its own alternate reality/universe.
Paula Patton flaunts her sexy new post-pregnancy curves in this movie which probably added to her performance in delicious and wonderful ways.
Hey, “Lara,” I didn’t know you were also posting as “Rovena” three days ago at Hitfix. Quote:
“Superwoman Paula Patton is so voluptuous and shapely in ‘Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol’ after giving birth to her first child with her toyboy husband Robin Thicke merely five months before filming began.
In the movie, she flaunts her amazing post-pregnancy figure that boasts an ample cleavage, fuller legs and a fuller backside.
Her incredible physique and sexy new curves probably added to her performance in delicious and wonderful ways.”
I saw that same comment on a EW this week. I went back and it was posted by “Aubrey”. I wonder if this person is getting paid per post or a flat rate.
Paid flack? Likely.
I just googled “Paula Patton” and “delicious and wonderful ways” and got 70 hits — one of them going back to JULY.
Awesome- you checked it out! apart from being weird, she/he/it is doing a bad job. Nobody talks like that. Not even pr-people, I think…
He’s crazy!!!!!!! OMg! Awesome stunt work!
Definitely going to see this one! I hope Luther’s back.
Holy sh…! Tom Cruise, Scientologist or not, is serious BA to jump out of a building like that. There are SO many ways that could have gone wrong. BTW, Brad Bird is awesome!
Wait so Tom Cruise actually did that? I would be so terrified lol but it must be exhilarating. Even knowing there are so many precautions to keep u safe and theres a like 99% chance of being fine i still would be terrified lol. Did tom actually do those or was it a very resembled stunt guy?
Wow, say what you will about the guy but that’s pretty brave. Glad they went for the actual thing instead of CG or green screen. Surprised they let him do that. Usually they make the stunt guys do that even if the star wants to.
I completely agree.
yo that was nuts! tom cruise is really bad ass!
Haha tryna proove himself a man..do yo thing cruise.we waitin to torrent ur movies 4 free haha
Tom, I can’t wait for the movie, you’re awesome! No fear, wow. hugs from Boston
I hate his films, but I guess he is a serious badass… except Cocktail, that movie is great because its so bad it becomes good again…
Are any of these comments from real people or are they all just fake posts from a PR firm– the same firm that paid EW to post this pointless article–?
This post is real. I love Jeremy Renner and he is the only reason I would see this film. But my hatred for Tom Cruise outweighs all so I will gladly skip seeing this.
I love Jeremy Renner too! But unlike you, I also love Tom… so yeah, I’ll be seeing it.
Your hatred for Tom Cruise!?! What exactly has he personally done to you? Hate is a very strong word. I have always liked his movies and can’t wait for this one.
