'Princess Bride': New poster revealed for Jason Reitman's live reading

His name is Jason Reitman. He is recreating The Princess Bride live on stage. Prepare to smile.

The Young Adult and Up in the Air filmmaker has created a phenomenon in Los Angeles with his first two live readings of classic movies, starting with The Breakfast Club (featuring Jennifer Garner, Aaron Paul, and Patton Oswalt in the roles originated by Molly Ringwald, Judd Nelson, and Anthony Michael Hall). His second installment was The Apartment, with Steve Carell, Natalie Portman, and Pierce Brosnan in the Jack Lemmon, Shirley MacLaine, and Fred MacMurray parts.

Next Thursday, will mark the third film in the one-night-only series — The Princess Bride. “This will be our largest cast yet with 11 actors on stage at the same time,” Reitman says. “There will be some returning performers [from earlier shows] and some new ones.” Reitman’s new film, Young Adult, is premiering in Los Angeles on the same night, so after introducing that movie, he will be rushing across town to The Princess Bride. (He serves as the narrator, reading the script’s stage directions.)

The cast is currently being assembled, but for now, Reitman is sharing his poster for the event, which is put on by Film Independent at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. (Tickets sold out in 30 minutes, though there will be a rush line the night of the show if you want to take a chance.) Unfortunately, it’s not recorded or broadcast outside the theater.
