As years go, 2012 is shaping up to be The Best Ever for at least one Hollywood multi-hyphenate. In April, EW has confirmed that Joseph Gordon-Levitt will step behind the camera for his feature directing debut in an untitled comedy starring Gordon-Levitt as a ladies man attempting to reform himself. The actor also penned the original screenplay, and will co-star with Scarlett Johansson. (Deadline first reported the story.)

The news comes as Gordon-Levitt is set to star in four high profile feature films this year: The Dark Knight Rises, the Manhattan bike messenger thriller Premium Rush, the sci-fi thriller Looper, and Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln.

Gordon-Levitt premiered his first short film, the Elmore Leonard adaptation Sparks, at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival. His film Morgan and Destiny’s Eleventeenth Date: The Zeppelin Zoo — made in collaboration with Gordon-Levitt’s online filmmaking collective hitRECord.org — premiered at the 2010 SXSW Film Festival.
