'Escape From Tomorrow' trailer: Disney World becomes the Creepiest Place on Earth -- VIDEO

Disney World is supposed to be the Happiest Place on Earth. It’s got breathtaking rides, lively shows, and iconic characters greeting families on every corner.

Escape from Tomorrow upends all that.

Shot in black and white — even the Magic Kingdom can seem terrifying when stripped of color — and directed by Randy Moore, the thriller spins a tale of Jim White (Roy Abramsohn), a family man who slowly goes insane while vacationing with his family in Disney World. White begins to see sinister and surreal visions, succumbing to paranoia as he roams the park.

The first trailer has been released and makes the amusement park seem trippy and nightmarish: Spaceship Earth appears to roll away from its perch in EPCOT, a little boy’s eyes turn to black, and a man’s severed head lies on the floor, all while dramatic Disney-esque music blares over the shots. It’s all in keeping with the tone of the bloody artwork the film released last week.

“They come here because they want to feel safe?” a woman says in a voice-over. “Bad things happen everywhere, especially here. You can’t be happy all the time.”

Strangely, Disney hasn’t commented on the film, which was shot in secret at the parks. Escape From Tomorrow made waves when it premiered at Sundance earlier this year and will be theatrically released in select cities, as well as launched on digital platforms Oct. 11.

Check out the first trailer for the film below, but beware: You may need to curl up with your favorite Disney movie after viewing.
