Casting Net: Amber Tamblyn teams up with Bob Odenkirk for greeting card comedy; Plus, Aaron Eckhart, more

• Amber Tamblyn (127 Hours, Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants) is set to star opposite Bob Odenkirk (Breaking Bad) in Girlfriend’s Day, a comedy Odenkrik wrote about things spiraling out of control at a competitive greeting card company as the writers attempt to create the perfect card for the new holiday. Odenkirk will play the part of Ray, a past-his-prime writer. Tamblyn, who is married to Odenkirk’s Mr. Show co-creator David Cross, will portray a greeting card writer fan (a “Cardie”) who helps him. Michael Stephenson (Best Worst Movie) is set to direct. [Deadline]

• Lucas Black (42) will be reprising his role as Sean Boswell in Fast & Furious 7. He last appeared in the franchise in the third installment, Tokyo Drift. [Deadline]

• Kelsey Grammer is in talks to help out the Expendables in the third installment of the Sylvester Stallone franchise. He’d join Jason Statham, Harrison Ford, Mel Gibson, Antonio Banderas, Wesley Snipes, and more in the movie as the ex-mercenary Bonaparte who aids the macho group. [Deadline]

• Aaron Eckhart, last seen in Olympus Has Fallen, has signed on to a new potential horror franchise for Blumhouse Productions (Insidious, Paranormal Activity). Incarnate follows an exorcist who can inhabit his subject’s subconscious while exorcising them. Brad Peyton (Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore) is set to direct. [Deadline]

• Teresa Palmer (Warm Bodies) and Luke Hemsworth (the other Hemsworth), have joined the cast of Kill Me Three Times, a crime thriller set in an Australian surfing town. It’s directed by Boxing Day helmer Kriv Stenders and stars Simon Pegg (The World’s End) and Sullivan Stapleton (300).

• Carlos Pratts, who appears in the FX drama The Bridge as Demian Bichir’s son, will play a high school athlete with anger issues in Disney’s McFarland, based on the true story of the unlikely ascent of a ragtag track team. Kevin Costner stars as the coach who leads them to a national championship. [THR]

• Arnold Schwarzenegger will not be portraying a villain in Avatar 2, according to a spokesperson for 20th Century Fox. [Variety]
