J.J. Abrams' Bad Robot tweets R2-D2 photo from 'Star Wars: Episode VII' workshop

Bad Robot, J.J. Abrams’ production company, sent out a tweet Thursday that’s sure to excite Star Wars fans.

The message consisted simply of “Hi from the workshop #StarWarsVII” — but more importantly featured a photo of Abrams himself posing with Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy and R2-D2.

While the tweet doesn’t give too many hints as to how things are coming along on the project, the film is slated to start shooting at London’s Pinewood Studios in the spring. Casting rumors for the upcoming installment of the iconic sic-fi film franchise are still swirling– actors linked to the upcoming film range from The Tudors‘ Jonathan Rhys Myers to Fruitvale‘s Michael B. Jordan who admitted to auditioning for an “unspecific part.”

Star Wars: Episode VII is currently being co-written by Abrams himself along with Lawrence Kasdan who co-wrote The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, and Raiders of the Lost Ark for Lucasfilm. The two have taken over writing the screenplay for the upcoming film from Michael Arndt, an Oscar winner for Little Miss Sunshine and nominee for Toy Story 3, who had previously been working on the script.

Star Wars: Episode VII will be released on Dec. 18, 2015.
