Elizabeth Jewell, subject of Sundance documentary 'Rich Hill,' dies at 39

RICH-HILL-POSTER

Rich Hill, a documentary from Tracy Droz Tragos and Andrew Droz Palermo, explores the lives of three boys living in a small, blighted Missouri town. Set to premiere at the Sundance Film Festival on Sunday, the filmmakers were shocked to learn that Elizabeth Jewell, one of the subjects followed in the documentary, died Sunday at age 39, leaving behind four children.

The filmmakers have set up a fund to support Jewell’s funeral. “We last spoke with Elizabeth two days ago. She was asking about Park City weather and what to wear. She was excited to get on an airplane for the first time to go to Sundance and the premiere of Rich Hill. Her loss is deeply felt,” Tragos wrote.
