Casting Net: Melissa McCarthy comedy adds Allison Janney, Morena Baccarin; Plus, Rob Lowe, more

• Allison Janney (The West Wing) and Morena Baccarin (Homeland) will both play CIA agents in Paul Feig‘s Spy, which is currently filming in Europe. The comedy, about a CIA analyst who gets a shot at field work, reunites the Bridesmaids director with Melissa McCarthy and Rose Byrne, while Jude Law, Jason Statham, and Bobby Cannavale round out the ensemble cast. • Rob Lowe has boarded Monster Trucks. Plot details are being kept under wraps for the live-action/animation hybrid, which will also feature Thomas LennonDanny Glover, Jane Levy, Amy Ryan, and Lucas Till. [Deadline]

• Tim Blake Nelson (O Brother, Where Art Thou?) is in final negotiations to play the homely scientist Harvey Elder in the Fantastic Four reboot. Though Elder eventually becomes the Mole Man, according to the report, that character will not appear in this story. [THR]

• Scott Eastwood (Clint’s son) will star in The Longest Ride, an adaptation of the Nicholas Sparks novel about an old man looking back on his life while trapped in a car crash. Eastwood will play the young version of the man as he meets and falls for the woman he marries. George Tillman is set to direct. [Deadline]

• Sally Hawkins, who snagged an Oscar nom for her performance in Blue Jasmine, has signed on to star in Maudie, based on the true story of artist Maud Lewis – a disfigured woman who gets hired as a housekeeper for an ornery man and ends up becoming his client as she develops as a folk artist. Hawkins will re-team with director Aisling Walsh for the project. [THR]

Veep‘s Timothy Simons has joined the casts of Goosebumps and Joe Swanberg‘s Digging for Fire. [The Wrap]

• Thomas Jane (Hung) will play a war veteran who has to protect a child in Standoff. [Variety]

• Armie Hammer (The Lone Ranger) will play a soldier stranded in the desert in the psychological thriller Mine. Fabio Guaglione and Fabio Resinaro are co-writing and directing. [Variety]

• Anton Yelchin (Star Trek Into Darkness) and Megalyn Echikunwoke (A Good Day to Die Hard) will play a couple on the run in Vincent & Roxxy. [THR]

Real-life couple Bryan Greenberg (How to Make It in America) and Jamie Chung (Premium Rush) will co-star in It’s Already Tomorrow in Hong Kong, a romance about an American ex-pat and a Chinese-American woman who meet in Hong Kong. Emily Ting will make her directorial debut on the project. [THR]
