Alas, Edgar Wright will not be at Comic-Con this week showing off footage from his hotly anticipated Ant-Man. But Wright’s departure from the Marvel Studios project has apparently freed him to pursue more eccentric, personal, less collaborative projects. EW has confirmed the news, originally reported by Deadline, that the filmmaker is planning to direct his long-gestating film Baby Driver at Working Title Films, the same company behind his beloved “Cornetto Trilogy,” the genre-mashing trifecta of Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and The World’s End.

Wright has never given out any specific details about Baby Driver, a title which has been on the horizon for over half a decade now. It’s apparently an action film or a crime thriller with some kind of musical element, which sounds a little like Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World and a lot like awesome. Working Title is currently developing the project; no studio has been announced at this point, and it’s not known whether Baby Driver will feature Wright’s Cornetto comrades Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. But it probably won’t feature Ant-Man.
