Casting Net: Rebel Wilson for 'Private Benjamin' remake; Plus LeBron James, more

• Rebel Wilson (Pitch Perfect) is attached to star in a re-imagining of the now-classic 1980 Goldie Hawn comedy Private Benjamin. In the original, scripted by Nancy Meyers, after Judy Benjamin’s husband dies on their wedding night, a recruiting agent tricks the prissy widower into enlisting in the U.S. Army. It’s obviously not what she expected. The new take finds a “redneck” (Wilson) and a city girl who enlist in the Marines as an escape from their lives. [Den of Geek; The Wrap] READ FULL STORY

Changing costumes a half-dozen times, making Zac Efron feel uncomfortable, dancing to “The Climb,” “Lose Yourself,” “Girl on Fire” and “Thrift Shop,” referencing Channing Tatum’s butt every 10 minutes, and just generally keeping the energy high during the 2+ hour broadcast of the 2013 MTV Movie Awards was all in a night’s work for first-time host Rebel Wilson.

The Australian actress soldiered on after the show to take a few minutes to talk to the press backstage about performing with her Pitch Perfect co-stars and how she really feels about Russell Crowe. Rebel Wilson talks hosting the MTV Movie Awards, voting for Channing Tatum, and (probably) losing to Jennifer Lawrence

Lately, it seems like a day doesn’t go by without Jennifer Lawrence winning something. (Just yesterday, the Oscar-winning Silver Linings Playbook actress was voted the celebrity people would most like to see in a sex tape.) Yet every time J-Law wins something, it means Rebel Wilson did not win that thing.

Wilson has a chance to reverse that trend at this weekend’s MTV Movie Awards, where the Pitch Perfect star will not only be the host but also a three-time nominee. And while one of the categories pits her against Lawrence, Wilson tells us she’s still got her fingers crossed: “I would just love to win one award!” Read on for the rest of our recent chat with Wilson, who tells us about getting hosting tips from Aziz Ansari, “accidentally” voting for Channing Tatum multiple times, and this Sunday’s much-anticipated (albeit Anna Kendrick-lessPitch Perfect reunion.

Casting Net: Anne Hathaway may re-team with Christopher Nolan; Plus, Jim Carrey, 'Kung Fu Panda 3,' more

• Anne Hathaway has her Academy Award. The Hathahaters have moved on. She’s already lined up a Lynn Shelton indie. What’s her next move? A Christopher Nolan blockbuster “interstellar voyage to the furthest reaches of our scientific understanding” of course! The Les Miserables actress is in final talks to reunite with her Dark Knight Rises director for his highly anticipated and annoyingly secretive film Interstellar, based on the theories of theoretical physicist (and time travel enthusiast) Kip Thorne. Matthew McConaughey has signed on to play the male lead in the film, which has already set a November 7, 2014 release date. Despite Hathaway’s diverse resume of musicals, rom-coms, rom-drams, teen flicks, and comics, she hasn’t tackled the sci-fi world yet, making the possibility even more exciting. [Deadline]

Jim Carrey has decided to join the comedy Ricky Stanicky, after a reported year of negotiations. The title refers to the name of an invented scapegoat for a group of troublemaking friends. What started out as a teenage joke continues into adulthood, though, until their significant others insist on meeting him. Instead of coming clean, they hire someone to be Stanicky. Carrey’s Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls director Steve Oedekerk will helm the Summit Entertainment feature. According to the report, James Franco was originally attached to star, and Joaquin Phoenix was in consideration as well. [THR]

Before this year’s MTV Movie Awards (hosted by Rebel Wilson, April 14 at 9 p.m.), MTV has been releasing a slew of clips from upcoming filming, including an exclusive new scene from Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s apocalypse comedy This is the End starring James Franco, Jonah Hill, Craig Robinson, and Jay Baruchel.
